- What do you do at JMT? I serve as Associate Vice President and Director of Client Engagement for Technology & Innovation in Texas. My role focuses on helping clients solve complex business and operational challenges through technology, geospatial solutions, digital transformation, and innovation. A large part of what I do involves building relationships, identifying opportunities, connecting clients with the right expertise across JMT, and helping shape solutions that deliver measurable value. I also work closely with our technical teams to bring innovative approaches and emerging technologies to clients across the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC), transportation, utilities, energy, and public sectors.
- What brought you to JMT? JMT has always felt like home to me. Earlier in my career, I had the opportunity to help establish and grow JMT Technology Group's presence in Texas. One initiative I am particularly proud of was helping position JMT for participation in the Texas DIR program. Recognizing its strategic value early on, I helped build awareness of its long-term potential, and it has been rewarding to see JMT continue to leverage that contract vehicle as part of its growth strategy in Texas. After spending time in leadership roles outside the company, I was excited by the opportunity to return and help expand JMT Technology Group's presence in one of the fastest-growing markets in the country. What ultimately brought me back was the combination of great people, a culture built around collaboration, and the opportunity to help clients solve real-world problems through innovation and technology.
- What do you like most about JMT? The people. JMT has an incredible depth of expertise, but what stands out most is how willing people are to collaborate and support one another. Whether you're working with engineers, planners, surveyors, GIS professionals, software developers, or technology specialists, there is a shared commitment to helping clients succeed. I also appreciate that JMT encourages innovation while remaining grounded in practical solutions that create real value for our clients.
- What type of projects do you like to work on most? I enjoy projects where technology can make a meaningful impact on how people work and make decisions. That includes helping organizations modernize operations, improve situational awareness, better manage infrastructure assets, and connect field operations with office systems. I particularly enjoy projects that bring together multiple disciplines—GIS, data analytics, digital twins, AR/VR, asset management, and operational technology—to solve complex challenges. The most rewarding projects are those where you can clearly see how technology improves efficiency, safety, service delivery, or the quality of life for the communities our clients serve.
- What advice do you have for someone who wants to get into this industry / career? Stay curious and never stop learning. Technology changes rapidly, but the ability to solve problems, communicate effectively, and build relationships remains timeless. Focus on understanding the business challenges behind the technology rather than simply learning software or tools. I would also encourage people to develop both technical and interpersonal skills. The professionals who have the greatest impact are often those who can bridge the gap between technology, operations, and leadership. Most importantly, be willing to say "yes" to opportunities that push you outside your comfort zone. Many of the most rewarding experiences in my career came from challenges I wasn't initially sure I was ready for.
- What is something new and exciting that you're working on? One of the most exciting aspects of my role is helping organizations explore how emerging technologies can transform operations and decision-making. Currently, I am working with clients and internal teams to identify opportunities where technologies such as digital twins, augmented and virtual reality, geospatial analytics, asset management systems, and artificial intelligence can improve operational efficiency and enhance infrastructure management. I am particularly excited about helping the AEC, utilities, transportation agencies, and energy organizations connect data, people, and processes in new ways that create smarter, more informed decision-making environments.
- Please share some fun facts about yourself. People are often surprised by how many different interests I have. Professionally, I enjoy helping organizations solve complex problems through technology and innovation, but outside of work, I'm equally happy building something with my hands. I enjoy DIY projects ranging from home remodels and backyard pergolas to chasing down obscure automotive ECU Easter eggs to unlock hidden features and better understand how things work. I also play rugby, which has taught me many of the same lessons that have helped me throughout my career—teamwork, resilience, leadership, humility, and occasionally how to get back up after being knocked flat on your back. I'm naturally curious and love learning, whether it's emerging technology, business strategy, history, international development, or some completely random topic that catches my attention. I also strongly believe in mentorship and in helping others succeed. My family keeps me grounded, my friends keep me humble, and my curiosity keeps me busy. I try not to take myself too seriously, although my daughters would probably tell you that I occasionally think I'm funnier than I actually am.
