BWI Marshall Airport is the gateway to the Baltimore-Washington region and has experienced significant growth over the past decade. In support of its goal to provide exceptional customer service, MDOT MAA requested JMT Technology Group's assistance to deliver accurate and up-to-date indoor space management data to Google and Apple for use in their online mapping and wayfinding applications. Airport customers rely on these applications to find facilities and services in the terminal including restrooms, elevators, restaurants, and shops. With the terminal in a constant state of change, it is imperative for JMTTG to establish an efficient and effective process for delivering reliable indoor space management data to vendors on a frequent basis.

The datasets produced for Google and Apple cover the public areas of the BWI Marshall Airport terminal (i.e. arrivals and departures levels, observation gallery, and mezzanine skywalks), and all levels of the attached hourly parking garage. The dataset includes items such as airline check-in locations, concessions and amenities, boarding gates, and baggage claim areas, as well as public corridors, lobbies, and the various elevators, escalators, and stairwells which connect everything.
